I've used the Makita UC4000 for two years and haven't had a single problem with it. Of course, it isn't as powerful as a comparably priced gas chainsaw, but if you're even considering buying an electric, you probably have a reason to do so. Here are mine:
- It's environmentally friendly and you don't end up smelling of gasoline.
- No yanking the starter cord five times before the darn thing will run.
- Virtually maintenance free. No spark plugs or air filters to replace. ... Read More

I am an occasional chainsaw user. For me this chainsaw has all the power I need to cut and prune my trees. It even tackled a very matured pine tree trunk after hurricane Catrina like a hot knife on butter. I carefully researched the pros and cons of gas versus electric saws and I have no regrets with this purchase and would highly recommend it for anyone wanting a medium duty electric chainsaw.

Not for falling large trees, of course, but perfect for cleanup, limbing, bucking mid-size limbs into firewood, ... Read More

Really good saw, cuts just about anything. I use it more than my gas powered saw.

This works great and is sturdy. I bought a Pollen and it broke only a few hours after use. The Makita is worth the extra money.
